June 2021 p12 q1
358
It is given that the equation \(16x^2 - 24x + 10 = k\), where \(k\) is a constant, has exactly one root.
Find the value of this root.
Solution
For the quadratic equation \(ax^2 + bx + c = 0\) to have exactly one root, the discriminant must be zero. The discriminant \(\Delta\) is given by \(b^2 - 4ac\).
