E-MO04 · Two models and a later rule change

Production plan A makes 12 items in week 1 and increases weekly production by 6 items each week. Plan B makes 4 items in week 1 and doubles weekly production. For parts (a) and (b), both rules continue unchanged.

Find formulas for the total production after n weeks under each plan.

[2]

Find the first week in which B makes more items in that week than A, and the first week by the end of which B has made more items in total. Justify both answers.

[3]

Now change plan B: from week 6 onwards, its weekly output remains equal to its week-5 output. A keeps its original rule. Compare their total outputs after 10 weeks.
