Challenge. A tank is partly full. One third of the water in it is used. Then an amount equal to one quarter of the tank’s full capacity is added, restoring exactly the original amount. What fraction of capacity was in the tank at the start, and what fraction remained just before the addition?

Hint

The amount added exactly replaces the amount removed. Compare one third of the original water with one quarter of full capacity.
