\(\displaystyle OA=\)\(\left[\begin{matrix}10\\2\end{matrix}\right]\), \(\displaystyle OB=\)\(\left[\begin{matrix}1\\12\end{matrix}\right]\). M divides AB with \(\displaystyle AM:MB=1:3\). For the general ratio formula write \(\displaystyle m=1, n=3\).

Write \(\mathbf a=\overrightarrow{OA}\) and \(\mathbf b=\overrightarrow{OB}\).

  1. Find OM and show that M is between A and B. [3]
  2. Derive the weighted-endpoint formula from AM. [2]
  3. Find the coefficient of a in OM. Explain your reasoning. [2]
